Neighboring Countries Quiz

Test your knowledge of who borders whom. Multiple-choice easy/medium; hard mode asks for every neighbour of a country — no partial credit.

Who borders France? All of them.

The Neighbor Quiz tests your understanding of political borders, not just where countries sit on the map. Easy and medium ask for one bordering country from a shortlist. Hard mode asks you to select every single neighbour of a given country — with no partial credit.

How it works

  1. A country appears — you're asked about its land borders.
  2. Easy/medium: pick one correct neighbour from a shortlist.
  3. Hard: select every neighbour, all of them, with nothing extra.
  4. Landlocked and single-neighbour countries are weighted by difficulty.

Unique mechanic

Border data comes from an ISO-3166-1 adjacency list — so contested cases are handled deliberately, and the "all neighbours" hard mode is a genuinely strict multi-select.

Why it helps you learn

Borders are how geography turns into history. Once you know who France touches, remembering colonial history, EU expansion, and 20th-century wars gets dramatically easier — the map becomes a memory scaffold.
